Terms of Service.
Developer-friendly terms for federal contracts data access. Cancel anytime, no hidden fees, clear usage limits.
What GovCon API does.
Effective date: January 30, 2026 · Last updated: April 13, 2026.
GovCon API gives you programmatic access to federal contract notices and awards sourced from SAM.gov. We collect and refresh data (twice daily sync) so you get broad, reliable coverage without having to wrestle with government data systems yourself.
See our pricing page for current plans and features.
What's allowed and what isn't.
Use the endpoints as documented. Build products on top. Don't redistribute the curated data as a competing service.
We encourage you to use GovCon API for building tools that help businesses find opportunities, market research, competitive intelligence, and any integration that makes federal contracting data more useful.
We ask that you don't resell or redistribute our curated data as a competing service, share API keys between different organizations, or use any endpoint outside its intended purpose (for example, paginating through search to extract the full dataset).
If you need bulk access for AI/ML training or large-scale exports, reach out first. We're happy to work something out.
Rate limits and fair usage.
Rate limits are enforced using a sliding 60-minute window and vary by plan.
Free Trial: 25 / day for 14 days.
Developer: 1,000 / hour.
Pro: 1,000 / hour with full intelligence-tier endpoints.
We strive to keep response times fast for every customer. Each endpoint is designed for a specific purpose. Search is intended for filtered queries, not full-database extraction. Usage outside the intended purpose may be subject to limits.
If you hit your limit you'll get a standard HTTP 429 response. Need more capacity? Let us know. We can discuss custom limits or bulk datasets.
Data and government sources.
All our data originates from SAM.gov. We mirror it as faithfully as we can.
All the data in our system originates from SAM.gov, the official, authoritative source for federal contracting opportunities. We mirror it using several collection and cross-checking methods, but the original data is published and controlled entirely by the U.S. government.
Because we depend on upstream government systems, changes on SAM.gov's end (data format updates, outages, API access changes) may temporarily affect what we can deliver. When that happens, we work to restore full coverage as quickly as possible.
For any opportunity you plan to bid on, we recommend confirming the details directly on SAM.gov before submitting a response.
GovCon API is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) or SAM.gov. We are an independent service that makes federal contract data more accessible to developers.
Billing and cancellation.
Monthly subscriptions billed in advance via Stripe. Cancel anytime through the billing portal.
Cancellation. Cancel anytime through the billing portal. You keep access through the end of your current billing period.
Refunds. We handle refunds on a case-by-case basis. If you feel you didn't get what you paid for, just ask. We'd rather make it right than lose your trust.
Plan changes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades apply at the next billing cycle.
Payment failures. Failed payments may result in service suspension. We'll try to reach you by email first.
Price changes. We give at least 30 days notice. Existing customers get grandfathered or a promo code. No surprises.
Privacy and security.
Minimal collection, no data sale, usage logs only for billing and abuse prevention.
We collect minimal information (just your email), never sell your data, and log API usage only for billing and abuse prevention. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Talk to us.
We're a small team and we read every email.
Found a data mismatch? Have a feature suggestion? Something not working the way you expected? Reach out at [email protected] or via live chat when available. We typically respond within 24 hours on business days.
Honest feedback helps us build a better product, and if something's wrong, we want the chance to fix it.
The legal stuff.
We've kept this readable on purpose, but these terms are binding.
By using GovCon API, you agree to what's on this page.
Your decisions are yours.
GovCon API is strictly an informational service. We provide data to help you find and evaluate federal contracting opportunities, but we do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. What you do with that data is entirely your responsibility. Always verify details directly on SAM.gov before acting on anything you find through our API. We are not a business advisor, and our service does not constitute professional advice of any kind.
No warranties.
GovCon API is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep things running smoothly, but we can't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or that our data will match SAM.gov's records at any given moment. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GovCon API and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost contracts, missed bidding opportunities, loss of business, or costs of procuring substitute services, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) our service, regardless of the theory of liability.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the service shall not exceed the fees you actually paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.
Indemnification.
You agree to hold harmless GovCon API, its operator, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the service or any violation of these terms.
Disputes.
If there's a problem, email us first. We'd genuinely rather work it out. If we can't resolve things informally within 30 days, either party may pursue binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. Any litigation not subject to arbitration shall be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in Delaware.
Changes to these terms.
We may update these terms occasionally. If we make a significant change, we'll email you. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
